"There are three types of Amelia Tucker song: the sombre, the rueful and the melancholic. The set has more shades of blue than a collection of Dulux colour cards, from the quivering vulnerability of Tori Amos-style “Your Humble Servant” to the smoke rings that curl around “Fly Like an Anvil”, a torch song that could be an Elvis Costello first draft. It’s nicely complemented by the Daniel Lanois-ish guitar accompaniment which almost makes up for the lack of contrast in the parade of perennial glumness."
